American actor and director Rob Reiner (78) and his wife Michele (69) are on Sunday found dead at their home in Los Angeles. American news media report this based on a statement from the family. The police are investigating the case as a crime.

“It is with intense sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the family said in a statement. “We are deeply affected by this sudden loss and ask for privacy during this unimaginably difficult period.”

Reiner is known, among other things, as a director of films such as The Princess Bride A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle. He started his career as an actor.
