Bobsleigh Olympic champion Laura Nolte remains the measure of all things in two-man competitions. The world champion from Winterberg, with pusher Deborah Levi, also triumphed with a big lead at the third World Cup stop of the Olympic winter in Lillehammer and once again relegated the competition to the top with a German triple victory.
Nolte, who raced to third place in the monobob on Saturday, clearly won ahead of Kim Kalicki (Wiesbaden/+0.56 seconds) with pusher Talea Prepens and Lisa Buckwitz (+0.62) from BRC Thüringen with Neele Schuten after two runs in Norway.
“We are super happy,” said Nolte, “Debi did a great job.”
Levi added: “From race to race we become even more relaxed. It’s just fun.”
Nolte had already triumphed at the start of the season on the Olympic track in Cortina d’Ampezzo and in Innsbruck-Igls. On Sunday she was already comfortably 28 hundredths in the lead after the first run, and she extended this lead in the second run. Nolte leads the World Cup standings in both the mono and two-man bobsleigh and is considered the big favorite for gold at the Olympic Games in February.
