Mo Salah was recently dissatisfied and handed things out. That had consequences. But now there seems to be a first turning point at Liverpool FC.
Little has happened recently at Liverpool FC. In terms of sport, the Premier League club is in 11th place in the table. Recently there were two draws in the league. Star striker Mo Salah had to watch both games from the bench at the beginning; he was not used at all against Leeds United. The 33-year-old has recently dealt with the coach and the club, but now there is probably a first turning point.
As the British media unanimously report, Salah should be in the Reds’ squad against Brighton on Saturday afternoon (from 4 p.m. in the t-online live ticker). This was reported by BBC and Sky. Accordingly, coach Arne Slot is said to have spoken to his protégé on Friday.
The coach previously announced: “I will talk to Mo. The outcome of this conversation will decide how things will look.” How exactly is not yet clear, as Salah is traveling with Egypt to the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after the game against Brighton.
The trigger for not being taken into account in the Champions League duel against Inter Milan (1-0) was an interview by Salah. He was angry because of his bench experiences and dished out in the mixed zone: “It seems like the club has dropped me. That’s how I feel. I think it’s very clear that someone wanted me to take all the blame.”
He also continued: “A lot of promises were made to me in the summer, but so far I’ve been on the bench for three games, so I can’t say they’ve kept their promises. I’ve said many times that I had a good relationship with the coach, but suddenly we don’t have a relationship anymore. I don’t know why, but I get the impression that someone doesn’t want me at the club.”
Slot came to the “Reds” in the summer of last year as Jürgen Klopp’s successor. Salah has been under contract there since 2017 and has now played 420 games for Liverpool.
