The classic story by Charles Dickens, but for and by Gasselte. Four associations and the primary school bring the story with a Drenthe twist for an early Christmas feeling for visitors. This in honor of the hundredth anniversary of the village’s music association.
A Drenthe talking miser Ebenezer Scrooge, live music and even village icon Wemelie Kruit who temporarily returns to earth. “It was actually intended to conclude the anniversary year, but the preparation time turned out to be insufficient last year,” says Annemarie van der Linden of music association De Harmonie.
The story regularly makes a nod to contemporary times. For example, to the bats in the roof of the old school building, a new residential area or packages ordered online.
The open-air play is a collaboration between music association De Harmonie, theater association DES, singing association Tonegido, Vrouwen van Nu and fifteen students from De Dobbe primary school.
