The sender of the postcard is a certain Aurelia and the card is addressed to a girl or woman named Sophie Scholten. In the card, Aurelia writes to Sophie about how she inspired her and was there for her in difficult times. “That she has not only found a best friend but also a sister. And that she looks up to her so much,” said a moved Van Melsen.

Text full of love

The Hilversum resident is struck by how much love is expressed in the text. And that worries her at the same time. “Soon they will no longer speak to each other at all or they will have a different number and this will never end up,” she says. “I would think that would be such a shame.”

A striking detail: although the image on the front of the card resembles the Roman Colosseum, it appears that the card was posted in Crete, Greece.

Van Melsen has been looking for the two for three months now and has already spoken to a number of Sophies in and around Hilversum, but without success. Because she finds the text on the card so personal, you only see a small part of the content on the NH Helpt website. Even though the search is a tough one, the Hilversum resident keeps her spirits up. “A message like that just has to reach someone.”
