Good day! Welcome to this live blog, where we follow North Holland clubs in the Premier League today. Telstar – NEC promises to be a spectacle, given the attacking intentions of the two clubs. Volendam travels to Groningen, where it plays against the local FC at 6.45 pm.

Past: Telstar – NEC 2-2
Past: FC Groningen – FC Volendam 3-0

The penalty is shot in flawlessly by captain Stije Resink. It will be a very painful and frustrating evening for FC Volendam.

Nick Verschuren makes hands with a shot in the eyes of the VAR. Referee Danny Makkelie is called to the side and gives the penalty. Penalty kick Groningen.

When FC Volendam hopes for the equalizer, it becomes 2-0. Brynjolfur Willumsson scores the goal.

It remains very exciting in Groningen due to the home team’s narrow lead. FC Volendam’s ten team continues to wait for the equalizer.

Tyrique Mercera shoots high over the goal from very close range after a combination with Jorg Schreuders. Joel Ideho and Alex Plat come on for the last half hour ahead of Gibson Yah and Ozan Kökcü.

After a beautiful pass from Gibson Yah, Henk Veerman ends up alone in front of Etienne Vaessen. However, he shoots eye to eye at the goalkeeper. Shame, there could have been more there.

A little later Yah tries the same recipe with Veerman; this time the pass does not arrive. Volendam smells blood because of that narrow deficit.

FC Volendam still has half to make something of this away match. No substitutions have been made. We’ve started again.

FC Volendam is behind at half time after a good shot by Stije Resink. The Volendam team still has to survive a half with ten men. See you soon!

There are at least two minutes left to play in this first half. Can FC Volendam still force something?

There is the lead for FC Groningen. Stije Resink, who is in the keen interest of Ajax, scores with a neat ball. Setback for FC Volendam.

Henk Veerman, the captain, tries it from his own half. However, his effort is wide of the mark.

FC Volendam has to continue with ten men after a foul by the defender. Amevor takes red after bringing down Van Bergen who has broken through.

Rick Kruyws intervenes immediately. Aurelio Oehlers is the child of the account and is replaced by Xavier Mbuyamba.

Brandley Kuwas gives it a try, from a free kick. His shot flutters past the wrong side of the post. Yet this is the first danger of Volendam.

At the other end, Van Oevelen again takes a ball out of the goal with a great save. He taps Thom van Bergen’s header over.

An attempt from the spin of a Groningen player now rolls just wide. Things are not yet going well at FC Volendam in the opening phase.

FC Volendam is not yet off to a good start in the away match against FC Groningen. Dies Janse already gets a great chance and moments later a ball is cleared in front of the line.

Brynjolfur Willumsson prints a few minutes later. Fortunately for Volendam, Kayne van Oevelen tapped the ball wide.

The goal doesn’t go through and then it’s over immediately. Telstar – NEC ends 2-2. What an insane ending to this match.

Well… will this match end 2-2 or 2-3? The referee goes to look at the screen.

Substitute Pereira scores, but Offerhaus is pushed before the goal. And so the goal is canceled.

Although, the VAR will again check whether it is correct that the goal was disallowed.

Milan Zonneveld thinks he has scored the winning goal, but the flag is raised.

It is still viewed by the video referee. And yes, it’s offside.

Koeman shoots the ball once again in the direction of the tall Zonneveld. Telstar is advancing.

There is shouting for a penalty from the home fans, but no whistle is blown. Telstar just got another chance with Milan Zonneveld. Can Telstar pull off a stunt here? Then there will still have to be a goal.

Like this! We are not done yet in Velsen-Zuid. The Telstar audience will sing again when they hear the amount of extra time.

Bryan Linssen suddenly gets the ball at his feet. The striker himself seems to be a bit shocked: he cannot control the ball.

Adil Lechkar and Mohamed Hamdaoui join the team. Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp and Tyrese Noslin leave the field to applause.

Not long afterwards, Koeman prevents NEC from making it 2-3. The goalkeeper is injured during his save. After treatment, Koeman can continue.

Four of Telstar’s last five matches ended in a draw and now the score is evenly balanced. If Telstar wants to climb the rankings, they will have to win.

NEC is on the same level. Kento Shiogai hits the target on a pass from Kodai Sano.

Now the defender is unable to score. That would be something, say…

Meanwhile, Kay Tehan and Milan Zonneveld are ready to come on.

Crettaz chooses the right angle and stops Soufiane Hetli’s penalty! Crettaz is also in a good position in the after-shot. Telstar should have reached 3-1 here.

Yes, Telstar gets a penalty! Hetli stands behind the ball.

The atmosphere is nice in Velsen-Zuid. The midfielder takes a shot from a distance and sees his shot go behind the line via Phillipe Sandler.

The replay shows Sandler hitting the ball with his hand. The VAR calls referee Martens to the screen, because this could easily be a penalty.

Jeff Hardeveld does not control the ball properly and lets the ball bounce up. The fullback doesn’t think and takes a swing! NEC goalkeeper Crettaz has no chance.

Telstar seemed to be on its way to a goal! Tyrone Owusu attacks NEC goalkeeper Crettaz, but does not go for his own success. If only the midfielder had done it, because he had a great chance. Now the opportunity has passed.

Nils Rossen has kicked off for Telstar.

Both teams started the second half unchanged.

The first half is over. After an entertaining opening phase, Telstar took the lead thanks to a goal by Mees Hardeveld. After his goal, the level decreased somewhat on both sides.

Just before half time, Bryan Linssen headed NEC back to level: 1-1.

The first half will be extended for a while. An additional minute is added.

Bryan Linssen is the goalscorer. The veteran gets the ball on his head and the score is level again shortly before half time.

NEC started the match like a whirlwind. But since Hardeveld’s opening goal, the away team has had more difficulty creating opportunities.

We note another opportunity for NEC if Ogawa can head. The Japanese player’s effort is not dangerous, Koeman can easily catch the ball.

Noslin makes an error in judgment and loses his direct opponent. Önal cuts the ball in front of NEC and Sami Ouaissa seems to be about to pull the trigger. The NEC winger slips away alone and this opportunity is lost.

Ouaissa is not the first player to slip. It has been well watered.

It is the second card of the match. And again it is a NEC player who gets it. Basar Önal is now on edge, although this card was a bit punished.

Mees Hardeveld hits the target! Via Tyrone Owusu the ball reaches the fast Tyrese Noslin, who delivers a good cross. Hardeveld has crossed on the other side and heads home! Telstar is ahead.

Telstar’s lead is surprising. Hardeveld’s header was Telstar’s first touch in the NEC sixteen. Just before the goal, Koeman made a catty save on Ogawa’s header.

Guus Offerhaus takes a free kick in his own half on behalf of Telstar. As the defender explores his play options, he sees three hyenas in a black shirt waiting for the pass. NEC is hungry.

Koki Ogawa looks set to score for NEC. Mees Bakker prevents the Japanese from shooting into the box, but then Bryan Linssen takes the shot… Guus Offerhaus clears the ball just before the goal line.

A fine example of defending from the Telstar defense.

NEC is looking for an early goal and wants to put Telstar under pressure early. This does mean that there is regularly space behind NEC’s defense. The Correia team tries to take advantage of this. Still without success.

No, it can’t even be called knocking. Three consecutive chances for NEC. Koeman immediately showed himself in the opening phase with good saves.

Patrick Brouwer escapes the attention of NEC. Tjaronn Chery, experienced as he is, recognizes the danger and tackles Brouwer to the ground. Chery gets a yellow card.

NEC player Tjaronn Chery gets the ball rolling in Velsen-Zuid.

After Youssef El Kachati shot Telstar to the Premier League at the end of last season, the striker made a transfer-free transfer to NEC. The striker injured his wrist at the end of October in the cup match against Rijnsburgse Boys. El Kachati has been sidelined for months and will therefore not return to the field in Velsen-Zuid.

A look at the rankings tells us that NEC is currently third in the Premier League. Under coach Dick Schreuder, the Nijmegen team is known for their attacking style of football. Only PSV and Feyenoord scored more goals this season than the club from Gelderland.

Just like NEC, Telstar uses an attacking playing style. Telstar is fifteen places lower in the rankings and is bottom of the competition. Yet Telstar is not inferior to the visitors defensively. Both clubs have conceded the same number of goals this season: 25.

We have to beat it, but Telstar – NEC promises to be an attractive match in advance.
