In 2025, fuel prices in Italy reached their lowest levels since 2022. This is confirmed by the pre-consultation of theUnem (Energy Union for Mobility) developed on the basis of Mase data (Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety). In particular, the average price of gas it was of 1,733 euros per litrewhile that of diesel Of 1.652 euros per litre: these are prices that have dropped by approximately 8/9 cents per liter compared to those of 2024which among other things were already decreasing compared to the previous year. It should also be remembered that from 1 January 2026 there will be a realignment of excise duties on petrol and diesel, which will stand at 67.2 cents per litre. According to what was estimated by theUnemthe realignment will make diesel more expensive than petrol by around three cents per liter (at the same industrial price), while revenue for the treasury will increase by around two billion euros in the period 2026-2030.

Although they are falling, the prices of the main fuels in Italy remain higher than the European Union average.
