Inge van der Heijden was the first to enter the field in this fourth Exact Cross of the season, with Julie Brouwers and the rest of the pack behind her. Marion Norbert Riberolle had a poor start and dropped back to tenth position. The European champion started the second round with a five-second advantage over Julie Brouwers. Jinse Peeters, Hélène Clauzel, Marion Norbert Riberolle, Sara Sonnemans and Xan Crees followed fifteen seconds later.

Norbert Riberolle joined Brouwers and so we got riders to counter-attack Van der Heijden. Not for long, however, because in the third of seven laps to be completed, the Belgian champion abandoned her companion. The French Hélène Clauzel rode half cross, 35 seconds behind the Dutch leader. Jinse Peeters followed in fifth place, 46 seconds behind Inge van der Heijden.

At the start of the final lap, Norbert Riberolle was 19 seconds behind, Brouwers 1:03 behind the lone leader. Nothing further changed in these positions. Inge van der Heijden succeeds her compatriot Fem van Empel as final laureate of the Leiecross. The world champion did not compete again after her retirement in the Koppenbergcross on November 1.
