At the beginning of October, the clothing group Clinton Wholesales-GmbH secured comprehensive licensing rights for the Dutch outdoor brand Gaastra and announced that the label would soon be relaunched. On Wednesday, the group of companies fleshed out its plans.
Accordingly, Gaastra will be relaunched in March next year with the new collection for the spring/summer 2026 season. This “officially begins the new era of the brand,” explained Clinton in a statement.
Gaastra’s debut collection under the new management will consist of two capsules called “Sport” and “Sailmaker” as well as “a reduced basic program”. It includes T-shirts, polo shirts, shirts, sweatshirts and sweat jackets in the price range from 39.95 to 139.95 euros. Two “seasonally curated” delivery dates are planned.
Gaastra’s maritime DNA remains the focus
The new Gaastra collection, developed by a Clinton design team, combines a “sporty performance feel” with the brand’s “deep nautical DNA,” which has always been closely linked to the sport of sailing, according to a statement. Accordingly, maritime elements will characterize the range.
The “Sport” line therefore focuses on “technical details, clear lines and modern accents”. “3D prints, smart contrasts and structured surfaces” are used. The aim was “a contemporary aesthetic that is reminiscent of wind, energy and movement”.
The leitmotifs of the “Sailmaker” line, however, are based on the traditional craft of sailmaking. “Nautical prints, checks inspired by the craft of sailing, canvas details and patches interpret the history of sailmaking in a modern and authentic way,” the company explained. “Peached jersey and over-dyed piqué” are intended to ensure a “high-quality feel”.
The Gaastra brand, founded in 1897, has had turbulent years. After it temporarily disappeared from the market, it was revived for the spring/summer 2022 season by the then owner Unlimited Footwear Group (UFG). After UFG went bankrupt, Gaastra was discontinued again in spring 2024. Now the next restart follows under the umbrella of the Clinton Group, based in Hoppegarten near Berlin, which also includes the brands Camp David, Soccx, Harlem Soul and Senses. The Label.
