After five and a half intense years in the grenade (he arrived on May 14, 2020), the director of the technical area Davide Vagnati leaves the scene and pays the team’s results, at this moment, below the summer expectations and the potential of the staff.

the choices

Already on Monday evening, in the heat of the moment, after the home defeat against Milan, President Urbano Cairo had reiterated his trust in coach Marco Baroni. Trust that is reconfirmed even in these hours of change at management level. The owners strongly believe that this coach will be able to re-emerge from the current difficult moment. It was decided to make a change in the chain of command of the management area, and so the press releases arrived which made the double move official. “The Torino Football Club announces the dismissal, with immediate effect, of Davide Vagnati from the role of sporting director and head of the technical area of the club – reads the club note -. Torino thanks Vagnati for the work done and for the great commitment made in these almost six years and wishes him the best in the continuation of his career”. Then here’s the welcome back to Petrachi: “The technical-sporting direction has been entrusted once again to Gianluca Petrachi, former sporting director of Torino with a long tenure from 2010 to 2019. The whole club welcomes Gianluca Petrachi back with a warm embrace: welcome back to Turin”.

the grenade decade

Gianluca Petrachi had said goodbye to Philadelphia and the Granata world in the summer of 2019, subsequently experiencing experiences as sporting director first at Roma and then at Salernitana. He arrived at Toro in December 2009, remaining there for a decade during which he shaped and molded a club which, in those years, was capable of discovering talents who later became great footballers (the last in the series, the most recent in order of explosion, was the goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic Savic, bought very young). A club that also achieved significant sporting results in that decade, qualifying for the European cups twice: the first under the technical guidance of Gian Piero Ventura in 2014, the second with Walter Mazzarri on the bench in 2019. A manager with a great temperament, Petrachi has now been entrusted with the task of helping Baroni in this moment of difficulty.
