Eintracht Frankfurt gave up a 3-1 lead against FC Barcelona and now has to worry about progressing in the Youth League. The SGE youngsters lost 3:4 (2:0) against the Catalans on the sixth and final matchday and are currently in 19th place in the table comprising 36 teams. The move into the knockout phase is now in the hands of other clubs.
Marvin Dills (21st and 58th minutes) and Niko Ilicevic (45th + 4) had put Frankfurt in the lead until late in the final phase, while Pedro Villar had meanwhile reduced the gap for the already qualified Spaniards. In the last ten minutes, Shane Kluivert, son of ex-professional Patrick, who was featured in the 2024 talent calendar, equalized with his goals in the 79th and 84th minutes, before Pedro Rodríguez even secured the victory in the 94th minute.
With seven points and a goal difference of 15:13, Eintracht now has to wait for the results from Wednesday. Five teams could potentially overtake, but at least two of them will have to make a mistake (to the table).
FC Bayern says goodbye with a draw against Sporting Lisbon
For the second German participant, FC Bayern, it was no longer about anything on Tuesday. Even before the last matchday it was clear that the Munich team would not make it to the knockout rounds. After the 3:3 (2:1) only four points were recorded, Bayern scored (7th), (16th) and (46th).
