Fethiyespor Club President Esat Bakırcı, regarding the claims that the Ziraat Turkish Cup match against Galatasaray will be played in another stadium, said, “No matter what the conditions, the match will be played in Fethiye.”
Following the discussions about the place where the match between Fethiyespor and Galatasaray in the Ziraat Turkish Cup will be played, club president Esat Bakırcı and press spokesman Selahattin Aydemir held a press conference at the club building. Club president Bakırcı said that they had the necessary negotiations with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and that the match will be played in Fethiye and said, “We have had our meeting with the federation. Whatever the conditions, the match will be played in Fethiye.”
Press Spokesperson Selahattin Aydemir also reminded that various news and misunderstandings have come to the fore that the match against Galatasaray “cannot be played in Fethiye due to insufficient stadium”. Stating that the stadium meets all the requirements and that there are no technical and security obstacles for the match to be played, Aydemir said:
“We are working in full harmony with all institutions related to the process. As a result of our negotiations with TFF, there is no obstacle for the match to be played at Fethiye City Stadium. This match is a great showcase for Fethiye. Fethiyespor will host one of the biggest clubs in Türkiye for the first time since its establishment. This is a very important opportunity in terms of both promotion and prestige for our city, which is the apple of tourism’s eye. Hosting a valuable rival like Galatasaray Sports Club in Fethiye, “It is a great source of pride for our district and our club. Our preparations continue meticulously to ensure that the organization runs smoothly.”
Fethiyespor and Galatasaray will face each other in the second week match of Ziraat Turkish Cup Group A.
Match days and times of the second week matches to be held on 13-14-15 January 2026 will be announced later by TFF.
