Attacker Phillip Tietz wasn’t even in the starting line-up for FC Augsburg this Bundesliga season and would like to leave the club in the winter. According to “Sky”, four clubs have expressed interest in the 28-year-old center forward, including the Bundesliga clubs 1. FC Heidenheim and Mainz 05 as well as the second division team 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Tietz moved from SV Darmstadt 98 to Augsburg in the summer of 2023 for 2.2 million euros, where he has since scored 17 goals in 84 games. Although there is only one other center forward in the FCA squad, Samuel Essende, the Braunschweig native only played 188 minutes in nine Bundesliga appearances – he scored one goal. He was allowed to start twice in the DFB Cup. After the dismissal of Sandro Wagner, his position does not seem to be improving under Manuel Baum.

After the departure of Jonathan Burkardt, those in charge in Mainz are looking for an accurate attacker, because with eleven goals, the Rheinhessen have the weakest offensive in the Bundesliga. The new signings Benedict Hollerbach and William Bøving have not yet been able to replace the DFB striker. 1. FC Heidenheim only scored one more goal and was able to gain some breathing room in the relegation battle with two wins in a row. The Brenz club is also looking for a striker.

Second division team Kaiserslautern and Canadian club Toronto FC are also reportedly interested in Tietz, whose contract in Augsburg runs until 2027. His market value is currently estimated at 5 million euros, but in the Bundesliga’s market value update on December 19th, Tietz will have to accept his first loss since his move to Augsburg.
