Students at Koning Willem I College in Oss were shocked after a stabbing at their school on Monday afternoon. According to Ibrahim Laboud (18), a friend of the victim, the cause of the incident was a stolen jacket. “Stab someone for a jacket? That’s not possible.”
Mass broke out at the school around half past twelve on Monday. According to students, two boys got into an argument, after which one stabbed the other. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries.
Ibrahim Laboud is friends with him. “It was a stolen jacket,” he says. “My friend was at the gym yesterday and his jacket was stolen. When he came to school today, he saw someone walking with his jacket on.”
Addressed, then argument
According to Ibrahim, his friend then confronted the other boy, after which an argument broke out. “The boy said that he had not stolen the jacket. Then he suddenly took a knife and stabbed my friend. He had blood on his shoulder and chest. I then ran to our teacher and he called the police and ambulance.”
Ibrahim didn’t understand it. “I thought: what is happening here? Stabbing someone for a jacket? That’s not possible. I find it very strange that someone brings a knife to school.”
With heads together
Other students also have to recover from what happened on Monday. “I was in the restaurant with friends when we saw the injured boy,” said Dara Abdulghni (20). “He needed help, he said. I didn’t hear anything else about the stabbing.”
Student Lisa (16) saw the argument between two boys. “They stood with their foreheads against each other. They had an argument and started fighting, then one ran after the other.”
Rest back again
She did not see the stabbing herself, but the violence made a big impression on her. “I never expected this to happen. I thought they were only arguing with words, maybe with fists. The fact that someone is walking around school with a knife really shocked me. I just want to go home as quickly as possible.”
Jos van Kessel, chairman of the King Willem I College, says otherwise DTV News that peace is back at school. According to him, education will continue as usual.
