It is not the Bordeaux wine region in France, not the Chianti region in Italy and not La Rioja in the north of Spain. Reporter Ineke Kemper is in Havelte, where Drenthe wine has been made for twenty years. White wine, red wine and rosé. With grapes from our own vineyard.

The vineyard is managed by Peter Pels and Dilana Verheijen. Peter decided a year ago to pass the baton to Dilana. She is apprenticed to him and slowly but surely takes over the vineyard.

In the report, Peter explains how he started the vineyard and shows his very first shrubs. He also explains why you really don’t have to grow grapes in a warm country for good wine. But winters in the Netherlands do bring their challenges. Especially when it’s freezing.

You can see it in this report from Expeditie Nederland.
