National striker in top form
He’s even surpassing Kane at the moment

FC Bayern will face the currently strongest striker in the Bundesliga in the difficult away game in Stuttgart. He even puts Harry Kane in the shade.
When preparing for FC Bayern’s away game at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, head coach Vincent Kompany can’t ignore him. VfB striker Deniz Undav is in top form ahead of the duel with the record champions. And Kompany knows exactly what awaits him and his team with the 29-year-old.
“I know Deniz Undav from Belgium and his time at Union Saint-Gilloise (from 2020 to 2022; editor’s note) very well,” said the Belgian on Friday morning at his final press conference in Munich. “He’s a striker who can always score in the sixteen-yard box. He’s very dangerous and incredibly clever.” And with his speed, Undav could also be that in counterattack situations.
Stuttgart’s striker has impressively demonstrated all of this in recent games. And he scored so many hits that he has now lost track of exactly how many. When he was asked immediately about the cup round of 16 against second division team VfL Bochum, in which he headed the score to 2-0, he first had to count. And he needed almost all of his fingers to do it.
“I don’t remember how many goals I scored,” said the national player. “I thought there were eight.” Based on the six competitive games in the last four weeks, Undav is right. However, after a total of 15 competitive appearances, he already has nine goals this season. Most recently, he even improved Jürgen Klinsmann’s VfB club record by scoring his club’s sixth Bundesliga goal in a row.
He even managed a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw in the top game at Borussia Dortmund. This means that Undav currently has a better goal rate than Harry Kane. Bayern’s super striker has already scored a total of 25 goals in 21 competitive games. But he only scored three times in the last six games. “We always have to solve it collectively,” Kompany said of Bayern’s plans to stop Undav.
