The stairs that wind on the flanks of the Havelterberg have been restored by Staatsbosbeheer. The path had not been repaired for several years, causing the sand to wear out.

Staatsbosbeheer has replaced all the steps and replenished the sand on the path. “The stairs are now sturdy and safe for many years to come,” the nature organization said.

The Dolmen Route, the Ice Route and the War Route, which run through the Holtingerveld, all pass over these stairs. On busy days, 6,000 hikers may take to the path on the Havelterberg. The path also leads to the plateau halfway up the Havelterberg, with a beautiful view over the heath and dolmens.

In addition to restoring the stairs, Staatsbosbeheer has also placed new benches at the viewpoint and two walking paths from the Lupineweg have been tackled, so that walkers no longer get wet feet there.
