The disciplinary delegation of the Ice Hockey Championship League has ordered the forward of JYP Antti Tyrväinen to a three-game suspension.
Tyrväinen tackled Tappara on Wednesday Kristian Tanus and flew into the shower.
Tyrväinen received a 5+20-minute penalty for a tackle on the head or neck area.
However, the league’s disciplinary delegation disagreed with the jury about which offense Tyrväinen was guilty of. According to the delegation’s view, the force of the tackle was “mainly on Tanus’ body and not on his head”. However, according to the delegation, Tanus was a player without a puck who cannot be tackled.
Therefore, according to the delegation, it was a blocking, not a tackle on the head or neck area.
– Regarding the consideration of the penalty for obstruction, the disciplinary delegation states that Tyrväinen performs a body tackle with full force, which also makes contact with Tanus’ head without the puck. As a result of the tackle, Tanus has to leave the match.
According to the disciplinary delegation, Tyrväinen recklessly endangered the opponent, so the suspension was appropriate.
Wednesday’s Tappara match was only the second of the season for Tyrväinen, who recently signed a contract with JYP.
