A hockey player who also played in Finland, Roman Kukumberg junior20, additional information has been received about the accident. The rescuer who was the first to arrive at the scene of the crash told the Slovak media about the accident For Cas.sk.
Kukumberg was involved in a traffic accident in Slovakia on Tuesday and is in a critical condition in the hospital.
– I immediately checked his pulse. He had a pulse, but he was unconscious, the man said in the story.

According to the rescuer, the Skoda tried to turn before the Ford. However, the Ford collided with a turning car. The scene of the accident was already familiar to the rescuer, because according to him, accidents have happened at the same intersection before.
– I stopped my car and immediately ran there [onnettomuuspaikalle]. I saw that three parties to the crash were outside. I asked if they were all in the cars. They replied that they had not driven another car yet, says the rescuer.
The rescuer immediately went to Kukumberg’s car. The hockey player was in the passenger seat and was not wearing a seat belt.
The rescuer noticed that Kukumberg was breathing. He repositioned the puck player’s cervical spine, made sure his airway was open, and called for help.
Dean held Kukumberg’s head steady until help arrived.
– I hope that he recovers quickly, survives and can continue his work!

The accident happened on Tuesday morning in the Trnava region of Slovakia. Kukumberg’s club Slovan Bratislava said that the young man was sitting as a passenger in the front seat of the car involved in the accident.
20-year-old Kukumberg was put into a coma due to severe head injuries.
– The 20-year-old driver of the Škoda was seriously injured and the ambulance transported him to the hospital in Bratislava before the arrival of the police patrol. There were three people in the other vehicle and none of them were injured. The breath test of the Ford driver was negative. The exact reasons and circumstances in which the traffic accident occurred will be clarified in the police investigation, the Trnava region police informed.
Kukumberg is also a familiar player to Finns. The forward represented Rauma Lukko in the 2020–21 season. He played 24 matches in Luko’s U16 team with an output of 14+14. In the Rauma U18 team, he played five matches without any power points.
Kukumberg has represented his country in youth national teams.
According to Cas.sk, the players of Slovan Bratislava are shocked by the accident. Kukumberg’s family has gathered together to hope for the hockey player’s recovery.
