Star striker Kylian Mbappé has led Spanish football record champions Real Madrid back to success – with two goals in Bilbao.
With a brace (7th/59th), the Frenchman played a key role in the “Royal’s” 3-0 (2-0) victory at Athletic on Wednesday (December 3rd, 2025).
After three draws in a row in the league, Real moved back to within one point of Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona, who had already won against Atlético Madrid (3-1) on Tuesday. Due to the negative run, the background noise surrounding Real coach Xabi Alonso had recently increased.
Mbappé: Already 25 goals in 20 games
Mbappé increased his tally to 25 goals in his 20th competitive game for the Madrilenians this season, with the attacker scoring the opening goal in a furious Real opening phase with a remarkable solo performance. Eduardo Camavinga (42nd) scored to make it 2-0 in the game, which had been brought forward due to the Supercopa taking place in January. National player Antonio Rüdiger was back in the starting line-up for the Royals for the second time since his return from injury.
