“I’m not done yet,” he writes Instagram in response to the news. “It was extremely difficult to hear that I will not get a race seat in 2026, but I am determined to work harder than ever at Red Bull as a test and reserve driver to develop together with the team and prove that I deserve a place on the grid.”

“Life is full of setbacks, and this is mine,” Tsunoda continues, after which he makes a promise. “It won’t stop me from becoming the best Formula 1 driver I can be.”

Career Yuki Tsnoda

Tsunoda made his debut in 2021 for AlphaTauri, the predecessor of Racing Bulls, the team where he also started this season. However, after two races in 2025 it was decided to transfer him to Red Bull at the expense of Liam Lawson. That was not a great success. He finished in the points in only seven Grand Prix’s and never got further than 6th place.

Tsunoda’s career-best finish is a fourth-place finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in his rookie season.
