Yellow card for Marko Ivezić (Holstein Kiel)
Ivezić moves from the center of defense to the right side of the back four and takes Muheim off his feet with his tackle.
68.
10:10 p.m
Philippe is wearing himself out in the Hamburg offensive, but apart from his finish around 15 minutes ago, the attacker is still hanging in the air today. If HSV relies on the counterattack, the Frenchman usually comes into play better.
65.
22:08
Double substitution at HSV, who now seem to have the game fully under control. Kiel undoubtedly put a lot of effort into the first round – are the storks now slowly but surely paying the price for it?
64.

64.
22:06

54.
9:56 p.m

Yellow card for David Zec (Holstein Kiel)
Before HSV finished, Zec came too late into the duel with Røssing-Lelesiit and hit the attacker on the ground. Afterwards he sees the yellow card!
54.
9:56 p.m
Philippe shoots over it! Suddenly there is space on the left side because Røssing-Lelesiit passes through to Königsdörffer against two opponents. The striker pulls almost to the baseline and then serves Philippe at the first post, but his shot goes far over.
53.
9:55 p.m
The intensity of the duels does not decrease even after the break: Gocholeishvili remains on the touchline after a duel with Therkelsen. But things are moving on quickly for the hamburger.
50.
9:54 p.m
Kaprálik narrowly misses! The striker receives the ball at the right corner of the penalty area and moves inwards parallel to the line. With his left he aims flatly at the far corner, but he is half a meter short of scoring.
49.
9:53 p.m
Similar to the first half, Hamburg took control in the early stages, but Kiel didn’t back down and bravely held on. A class difference between the two teams has not been visible to date.
46.
9:49 p.m
Both coaches are refraining from making personnel changes before the restart.
46.
9:48 p.m
Kick-off of the 2nd half
45.
9:35 p.m
Half-time conclusion:
HSV and Kiel say goodbye to halftime without any goals! From the Bundesliga club’s point of view, the result is flattering, because the Storks had two good opportunities: Harres was denied by Peretz, who made a strong save in the direct duel (26th) and Kaprálik should have given Kiel the lead with his free-standing header, but aimed too high (43rd). Hamburg had more possession, especially in the early stages, but there were no clear opportunities and as time went on Kiel became stronger and stronger.
45.
9:31 p.m
End of 1st half
45.
9:31 p.m
The injury time was manageable because there were hardly any interruptions.
45.
9:31 p.m
Addition time: 1 minute will be added.
43.
9:29 p.m
Kaprálik has to take the lead! Tolkin passes Gocholeishvili from a standing position on the left side and hits the cross inwards as smoothly as butter. Kaprálik is completely free in the center, but puts his header from five meters just over the goal. Good luck for HSV!
42.
9:28 p.m
Now the guests have the ball and let it run through their own ranks. Hamburg drops deep at times and all the Rothosen stand in their own half before the strikers rush forward and the team moves up.
39.
9:26 p.m
HSV intercepts Zec’s break-away attack early on and the advanced Torunarigha passes through to Königsdörffer in the penalty area. But the attacker’s shot rushes across the six-yard box and could have been passed as a pass.
37.
9:24 p.m
Vušković slips slightly when receiving the ball in his own penalty area, making it even more exciting. Tolkin’s cross is cleared in the center by Torunarigha in the six-yard box.
33.
9:19 p.m
Kiel is now taking part in the game significantly more than in the early stages and is currently winning corner after corner! The third dead ball ends with a hasty shot from over 25 meters.
29.
9:15 p.m
HSV tries an individual action, but Røssing-Lelesiit runs into three opponents in the opponent’s penalty area.
26.
9:13 p.m
Peretz prevents Kiel from taking the lead! Harres lurks on the last line and starts deep at the right moment on Kaprálik’s pass. The striker fails from a half-right position in the penalty area against Hamburg’s keeper because he makes himself big enough.
23.
9:10 p.m
The Bundesliga club has not yet been able to use the few standards that HSV gets. The Rothosen are still waiting for their first exclamation mark on the offensive!
20.
9:07 p.m
A wide diagonal ball is hit from midfield to the left. Røssing-Lelesiit ran in, but his shot in the penalty area was blocked for a corner. The replay shows: A goal would not have counted because the striker was offside.
19.
9:05 p.m
Tolkin lifts the first Kiel corner high into the middle, but HSV has its own box filled with numerous tall players and clears it with his head at the first attempt.
15.

Rosenboom doesn’t want to admit his teammate’s foul and complains too much.

9.
20:53

Yellow card for Kasper Davidsen (Holstein Kiel)
Davidsen loses the ball in midfield and wants a foul against him. The summer newcomer from Kiel holds the ball for a short time and he subsequently sees a yellow card.
6.
20:52
The first shot on goal of the evening belongs to the hosts: Hamburg plays a free kick from the right half of the field and Fábio Vieira finishes from the second row. However, the bullet flies harmlessly into Weiner’s arms.
4.
8:50 p.m
Kiel often relies on long balls in the first few minutes, but they come back immediately. HSV, on the other hand, seems willing to combine forward in a playful manner.
1.
8:47 p.m
The ball is rolling in Hamburg! The HSV Ultras are also taking part in the ongoing protests, so it will remain quiet for the first few minutes.
1.
8:45 p.m
Game start
8:32 p.m
After games in 1941 and 2007, today is only the third meeting between the two clubs in the DFB Cup. The direct comparison speaks for Kiel before this game, because the Störche won six wins from 14 games against the Rothosen. Hamburg and Kiel met for the last time in the lower house in the 2023/24 season, with today’s second division team winning both games.
8:20 p.m
Things haven’t been going well for the guests from Kiel for two weeks: a clear defeat at FCK was followed by a 0-1 defeat against Hertha at the weekend. This shouldn’t exactly undermine the self-confidence of the second division team, but with their success over Wolfsburg the team has shown that they can pose a threat to higher-class teams. There is only one change because Zec replaces the ailing captain Bernhardsson in the starting line-up.
20:12
In a dramatic game, HSV recently achieved a 2-1 home win against the favored VfB Stuttgart when they were outnumbered! Despite the success, there are five changes to the Rothosen: Peretz, Ramos, Gocholeishvili, Fábio Vieira and Königsdörffer are new. This year Fernandes and Mikelbrencis are rotating onto the bench, while Capaldo, Lokonga and Glatzel are not in the Hamburg squad today.
19:59
Let’s take a quick look at the successes of both teams so far in the first two rounds: HSV stumbled in the first round against Oberliga side Primasens and only won in extra time! In round two, Hamburg narrowly prevailed in Heidenheim. The storks lived up to their role as favorites against regional league team Homburg and eliminated VfL Wolfsburg from the cup in the second round.
7:47 p.m
Good evening and welcome to the round of 16 in the DFB Cup! Hamburger SV welcomes the second division club Holstein Kiel from the far north in front of their home crowd.
