Najib Amhali’s wife will appear in the reality show The Housewives of Amsterdam next season. Is the comedian himself also open to that genre of television? “100 thousand euros.”
We saw Najib Amhali’s wife in Shownieuws last week to discuss her new role as a cast member in The Housewives of Amsterdam. “Yes, how nice is that,” he says in the Weekend. “She wants that. I don’t watch it. It’s not my genre. All those real-life soaps, no. But she really enjoyed doing it.”
Just a poke
Television can be destructive. Did Najib warn her about that? “Yes, but she doesn’t listen, haha! I said: ‘Don’t do it!’ No, she just has to know that herself.”
That Housewives soap is known for its many arguments. “A lot of it is just staged. Come on, you know that too, right? It’s television, isn’t it, something has to happen. If it’s boring, they get a push from the production, like: ‘Come on!’ Or: ‘Do you know what she said about you?!’ Just a poke.”
Amhali soap
Doesn’t Najib himself want a soap opera on TV? “Yes, but for a lot of money. I think about 100,000 euros per episode. And then I will do ten. Is this an offer? No, I don’t know. I would like to show what I do with my charities and my clinic. I would like that.”
He continues: “But going to the Gamma and then putting together a bench: we’re not going to do that, that’s not for me. If people really want to know what I do behind the scenes, then I like to highlight those kinds of things from my life.”
To bully
For the time being, Najib will stick to his guest role in The Housewives of Amsterdam. “Yes, I did that once, it has already been recorded. What I had to do? Nothing, just be myself. They were at our home to show how she lives. How she lives, haha! Look at me now! Our home situation was shown and then I suddenly walk in.”
He concludes: “I thought it was funny, because I kept saying: Oh, shouldn’t I say that? I was just being silly. And I also said all the time: ‘Oh, but you never do that! Oh, Niama, you cooked? How nice!’ I was kind of messing up.”
