After two months of growth, the two-wheeler market is back in negative territory. The sudden and unexpected decline in scooters, until now the undisputed protagonists of 2025, weighs heavily, while motorcycles continue to flounder

While the many new features revealed during the latest edition of Eicma resonate, the world of two wheels is once again having to deal with the market which is still significantly suffering from the effects of the surplus of “end of series” registrations recorded at the very end of 2024 due to, at the time, the imminent entry into force of the Euro 5+ standard. November closes with a worrying negative sign after two months of growth, that is -14.50% compared to the same month last year and 15,630 units sold. A radical inversion due above all to the sudden decline in scooters, until now the undisputed protagonists of 2025: -4.81% in the penultimate month of the year with just 8,826 vehicles registered. The trickle of motorbikes continues, losing 23.62 percentage points, registering only 5,986 vehicles. Finally, mopeds seem to be sinking definitively: -30.20% and only 818 registrations.

The first eleven months of 2025

According to data released by Confindustria Ancma, the first eleven months of the current year recorded a decrease of 2.82% with 334,056 vehicles put on the road. Negative percentage points which, according to the association, have a limited impact on overall volumes as the November market weighs around 5% of the annual total. The success of scooters spread over eleven months holds up with an increase of 8.11% and 191,155 registered vehicles, while motorbikes continue to suffer at -13.23% and 129,910 registered vehicles. Finally, mopeds lose a quarter of their market: -24.55% and just 12,991 units. For the association, the decline in the overall trend in 2025 is equal to 2.82% it is an “exceptional singularity which appears even more evident and understandable if we compare the first eleven months of this year with the same period of 2023, free from the distortions of the end of the Euro 5 series, where a +1.8%“.
