In a statement, Menzo indicated: “After a thorough evaluation of the past international match and after careful consultation with our general manager Brian Tevreden, I decided this week to resign from my position as trainer-coach of the national selection of Suriname. In March, Natio awaits an extremely important international match. A moment when we must do everything we can to realize our shared dream and that of the Surinamese people. A dream that is still very much alive in all of us and which I sincerely believe is achievable.”
Menzo has been national coach since March 7 last year, after having previously been at the helm of ‘Natio’ for a short period. The national coach looks back on his national coaching position with a positive feeling. “In any case, I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together and it has been a great honor for me to be part of this special journey. Nevertheless, I believe that taking a step back is the right decision at this time. I sincerely wish the players, staff and board much happiness, strength and success as they take this final decisive step in March. This comes from the bottom of my heart.”
