Vandenbroucke expects booster to be needed for green light on CST | Coronavirus what you need to know

Read everything about the coronavirus in this file.

The booster shot campaign started a while ago. And it is progressing faster than initially anticipated, says Vandenbroucke. By the end of January, the majority of adult Belgians who have already received their basic vaccination will have received an invitation for a third shot (a second one for those who previously received Johnson & Johnson). This will certainly be the case in Flanders.

“A great success, but we are not quite where we should be,” the minister added. “There is hesitation around the booster.” In other words, not everyone who received an invitation made an appointment or accepted it.

Still, he expects getting the booster vaccine will be “decisive” to get the green light on scanning the Covid Safe Ticket. It would certainly not seem illogical to him in the current context. The minister also referred to a decision that will be taken at European level.

In the meantime, we are waiting for advice from the Superior Health Council on the third injection for young people between the ages of 12 and 17 – the European agency EMA has not yet made a decision on this – and on a fourth injection for certain risk groups, which will be the first to be given. were on their third shot.
