In the sprint in Qatar, Oscar Piastri acted confidently from the start. Max Verstappen only attacked briefly – and then complained about his car.
Oscar Piastri confidently won the Qatar sprint. The McLaren driver, who had already started from first place on the grid, maintained the lead at the start and then confidently drove home the success. Piastri thus gained two points in the World Championship battle over his teammate Lando Norris, who crossed the finish line in third place behind George Russell in the Mercedes. The Brit now has a lead of 22 points.
The third World Cup contender, defending champion Max Verstappen, only started from fifth place, quickly passed team-mate Yuki Tsunoda after the start and then attacked Norris. But the Dutchman couldn’t get past. On the contrary: as the race went on, Verstappen had to stop and complained about his car on the radio. In the World Cup he is now 25 points behind leader Norris.
