Nathalie Thielen, the former chairman of Marco Borsato’s fan club and the mother of the girl who reported him for indecent assault, has consciously chosen to come forward now.
After years of silence, Nathalie Thielen gave a major interview this week A.D. It doesn’t contain much that is revealing; it’s all a bit of he-says-she-says. Why did she want to be interviewed now? AD reporter Victor Schildkamp explains. “She was really bothered by everything that was said about her in court.”
Why now?
Nathalie was completely fed up, Victor says in his own newspaper. “Nathalie was portrayed as unreliable and crazy by Marco Borsato and the Knoops family. This means that her daughter may also be unreliable, or that you could doubt her declaration.”
He continues: “Then it is important to show that you are very normal, that helps in the image. That is why she wanted to do the interview for the verdict. Suppose Borsato is acquitted and she then tells her story, then it comes across as an attempt to save what can be saved after the lost battle.”
‘I disagree!’
Victor is very much in the complainant camp. “I strongly disagree. What do you mean, I just interview her,” he says. “We spent two days filling the site and newspaper with everything Borsato said, about naked wallpaper and sex pictures. Then we won’t take his side.”
He concludes: “Nathalie has the right to be heard. And I don’t take sides, I don’t know who is telling the truth in detail.”
