The political agenda, between now and the end of the year, will once again be in Congress.
On the one hand, Martín Menem will be revalidated as president of the Chamber of Deputies. Until the elections, not even those who defended him dared to predict this result. But the waters have changed quite a bit: with the addition of wayward radicals and Peronists from the interior, the man with Karina Milei’s kidney aspires to become the first minority in the Lower House. If it occurs, it would be a strong signal not only of the moment of the Government but of Peronism, which would lose that place.
Meanwhile, Patricia Bullrich will debut in the Senate. Already elected as block leader -after displacing Ezequiel Atauche-, she had her first sparkling meeting with Victoria Villarruel and held a meeting with her colleagues on the bench. Both signals are clear: demonstrate that the only leadership it recognizes is its own, and seeks to make moves that demonstrate that it has a certain independence from the general secretary.
Bullrich and Menem share an immediate objective: approve the Budget for 2026.
As for Karina Milei, her connection with the other strong woman in the Government promises to generate sparks sooner rather than later: Bullrich refuses to recognize any leadership beyond her own – which gives wings to her intentions to seek elective office in 2027 – while Karina does not get along with anyone who does not pay her absolute loyalty.
In addition to the advance on the Executive, the sister moved her chips in Congress. The endorsement of Bullrich as head of the block in the Senate meant the removal from that position of Ezequiel Atauche, who responded to Santiago Caputo. In Deputies, before the end of the year, Martín Menem will be voted as president of the Chamber until 2027.
