Wil de Moor can be found in the garden every free hour. With lots of love she ensures that everything grows, blooms and lives. She would like to share that knowledge with other Zoetermeer residents. That’s why she signed up as a volunteer garden ranger. She will come and visit your garden at no cost and give you a helping hand.

Wil de Moor has lived happily in Zoetermeer since 1988. After years of working in an office, she is now fully enjoying her retirement. And she does this mainly through her great passion: gardening.

Good for your plants

Wil provides free gardening advice to city residents on behalf of IVF. Her mission? Give nature a helping hand and ensure that gardens are more resistant to drought and flooding. “I think it’s best when there is a lot of life in the garden,” says Wil. “Birds, insects, butterflies – that’s good for nature and for your plants.”

Wil knows exactly where to hang a nesting box or insect hotel, and why a rain barrel near your drainpipe is so useful. Rainwater is better for your plants (no lime!) and for your wallet.

Handy folder with gardening tips

A tip that Wil often gives: take out tiles, put in greenery. “Many gardens are completely tiled,” she says. “But tiles retain heat and do not let a drop of water through. That is bad for biodiversity.” What kind of greenery do you put in it? No problem; Wil is happy to help you on your way. She gives you a handy folder full of garden tips: from a flowering calendar to suggestions about which plant, flower or tree best suits which location.
