The 54-year-old former PSV player signs a contract for one and a half years and starts his new job on Monday. Interim coach Hendrie Krüzen will still be ultimately responsible on the bench in the away match against Fortuna Sittard.
Heracles Almelo is looking for Ernest Faber in its search for a coach
Faber is the successor as coach at Heracles to Bas Sibum, who was dismissed at the end of October, who was in his first season at the club from Overijssel. Under Krüzen’s leadership, Heracles won all four matches, one in the cup and three in the league. Heracles therefore handed over the last place in the Eredivisie to Telstar.
As technical director, Faber takes over the duties of Nico-Jan Hoogma, who left the club at the same time as Sibum. “With his broad profile, Ernest is the ideal man to take Heracles Almelo further in several areas,” general manager Rob Toussaint responds to Faber’s appointment on the Heracles website. “Of course, the first priority for him is that we maintain ourselves in the Eredivisie as quickly as possible. In addition, Ernest, with his knowledge, contacts and versatile background, is also able to give Heracles Almelo a boost as technical director.”
Adelaide United
Faber comes from Australian club Adelaide United, where he worked as technical director. He was previously head coach of FC Eindhoven, NEC, FC Groningen and on an interim basis of PSV. Simple international Faber played football for PSV for most of his career.
“From my long experience in Dutch football, I know Heracles Almelo as a club with strong and well-organized processes, both on and off the field,” Faber responds to his appointment.
