Cole Campbell hardly gets a chance at Borussia Dortmund. The top talent therefore wants to turn his back on the club.
The American Cole Campbell is apparently about to leave Borussia Dortmund early. According to information from the pay-TV broadcaster Sky, the 19-year-old has officially registered his wish to move to BVB and would like to leave the club in the winter.
In the current season, the offensive player only played 16 competitive minutes and apparently no longer sees any prospects between the professional team and the regional league team. In the summer, BVB bosses Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl vetoed a change. At that time, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt were said to have been close to Campbell.
Apparently there was also a conversation with coach Niko Kovač at the time. According to reports, promises to the professional were subsequently not kept.
Meanwhile, there should be no shortage of people interested in Campbell. According to the report, one of them is the Danish club FC Midtjylland. Mike Tullberg, who previously coached BVB’s second team, has been on the sidelines since the summer. Under Tullberg, Campbell once played 46 games for Dortmund’s U19s, contributing 13 goals and 16 assists.
According to Sky, in addition to Midtjylland, other clubs are also showing interest in the native Texan. SV Elversberg from the 2nd Bundesliga should deal with him. Two clubs from Belgium, Club Bruges and RSC Anderlecht, are also courting Campbell’s services.
The right winger was in BVB’s squad for the 4-0 win over Villareal in the Champions League on Tuesday. But he wasn’t substituted. The fact that Kovač didn’t even bring Campbell into the game towards the end of the game is said to have caused irritation in the club. Because: Ricken and Kehl attach great importance to promoting talent. They should continue to see great potential in Campbell.
