Marketing boss Carsten Cramer will succeed Hans-Joachim Watzke as spokesman for the management of Borussia Dortmund’s capital company. BVB announced the corresponding decision of the Presidential Committee. After Watzke’s departure from management and his election as Dortmund club president, the previous works council chairwoman Svenja Schlenker also moved up to the KGaA management board.

As Watzke’s new club boss, Cramer will be responsible for communications and strategy. “It fills me with joy and pride to be able to represent BVB in such a prominent role in the future. It drives me that we are tackling a successful black and yellow future together and with maximum ambition with a highly motivated team,” said the 56-year-old. The Münster native worked at Preußen Münster in the 1990s and was a stadium announcer at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Cramer has been working for BVB since 2010.

Schlenker (42) will take over the human resources department in Watzke’s management and will continue to be responsible for women’s and girls’ football at BVB. The management of BVB KGaA continues to consist of Thomas Treß (59) for finance, organization, law and investor relations and Lars Ricken (49) for sports.

Watzke was elected president at the BVB general meeting on Sunday. It was widely expected that Cramer would be his successor as management spokesman. “I am convinced that Borussia Dortmund is very well positioned for the future with this new management constellation,” said the new BVB President Watzke.
