Kaulainen’s new location has 13 luxury villas and a restaurant.
Sampo Kaulanen The Jänkä Resort, which will be built in Ylläs, will open its doors to restaurant customers on Saturday, November 29, the release states. 13 premium-level wools are also ready for the Christmas season.
Jänkä Resort is located a 45-minute drive from Kittilä Airport. It is 2.5 kilometers to the village of Ylläs and five kilometers to the skiing center.
In addition to the villas, there will be a safari house with a restaurant and event services.

Jänkä Resort has received public money through the ELY Center. The total cost of the project is 6.7 million euros, of which 1.3 million is the EU’s co-financing share. According to Kaulainen, the budget increased by a couple of million during the project.
– From the beginning, I have strongly believed in the attraction of Ylläs and the strengths of tourism in the region, which are the unique nature of the fells, peace and the opportunity to relax without extra noise. When I got a vision of Jänkä at an ayahuasca retreat in 2020, I knew that it should be built right here on my family’s land in Konijänkä, Kaulanen says in the press release.
The holiday apartments built from logs are equipped with their own outdoor jacuzzi, sauna and skylights. The design has invested in stylish details and time-resistant domestic materials. Geothermal has been chosen as the heating method.
The concept of the 60-seat restaurant was created by the chef Hans Välimäki.
The volume being completed now is Kaulainen’s first in the plans for a 30 million euro project.
