A new work of art has recently been installed on the Dobbeplas: De Waterloper. It has not yet been officially unveiled, but soon you will be able to walk into it via the decking and sit on the benches. The artwork is in the shape of a drop that you may have seen before. In fact, it looks like two peas in a pod on something that has been nearby for years.

The Water Walker is part of the renovated park around the Grote Dobbe. The artwork at the Marseillepad connects the historic part and the modern center of Zoetermeer.
Catholic Church
From this pavilion you have a view of both the city and the water. If you look to the left, you will see the top of the Nicholas Church protruding above the trees. And you might notice that that top looks darn similar to the shape of the new artwork. That’s right! The teardrop-shaped spire of the church served as a model for The Water Walker. It is visible from various points in the Dobbepark. The only thing missing from the artwork is the golden rooster.
