In Rijen, a man started a fire in a house by throwing a brick and burning liquid through the window at the front door. That happened in the middle of the night of July 6 to 7. The police shared images of the arsonist in the Bureau Brabant investigation program on Monday evening.

The images show how the man walks along the track from Julianastraat towards the house at 3:15 am. In his hands he has a brick and two vials of liquid. At the front door he smashes a window with the brick, then pours the liquid inside and sets the whole thing on fire. Within seconds the entire facade is ablaze.

According to the police, the man was also near the house earlier, possibly to explore the area. He can also be seen on camera images around 3 a.m. The resident was not at home at both times. Only fifteen minutes after the arson, around 3:30 am, did the resident arrive and see what had happened. The damage was already enormous: the walls, ceilings and floors were severely damaged.

The suspect was wearing a black tracksuit, had a slim build and was wearing glasses.
