Eight poultry companies near the Belgian border were given a transport ban on Sunday and are no longer allowed to move eggs and birds. The companies are located within a radius of ten kilometers from a chicken farmer in Pelt, Belgium, where bird flu has been diagnosed.
Brabant poultry farmers are also no longer allowed to transport manure and litter. The transport ban is intended to prevent the spread of bird flu. Belgium is still investigating where the contamination in Pelt came from.
Since October 16, a housing obligation has been in place throughout the Netherlands for companies and hobby farmers. This means that livestock must remain indoors to prevent the spread of bird flu. The disease was found at a company in Drenthe.
