After the starting record, the German record champions FC Bayern will set and most likely set another record. The Munich team remains at the top of the Bundesliga table after the 11th matchday and has now maintained this position for 43 matchdays in a row across all seasons. Before that, only Bayern themselves managed that in the 1970s.
After matchday 10, FCB is six points ahead of their first pursuer RB Leipzig and also has a much better goal difference (+29 to +7). This means that even in the event of two defeats against SC Freiburg and against FC St. Pauli, the Munich team should still be at the top after the 12th matchday and break their own record. This dates from March 1972 to June 1973 under coach Udo Lattek.
Bayern Munich has currently been at the top since the third matchday of 2024/25 – only the table standings after a fully completed matchday were counted – after a 6-1 win at Holstein Kiel. Since then, there have been 31 wins, eight draws and only two defeats in the German football upper house. The top start to this season with the 6-0 win against RB Leipzig was also crucial for the series. If coach Vincent Kompany’s team defends its position until the end, they would salute 66 games in a row from the top.
As expected, FC Bayern is also the club with the most league leaders overall since the Bundesliga was founded. The Munich team has been number one 898 times, with Borussia Dortmund (182) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (138) following a long way behind.
