In the Kenyan capital Nairobi, cyclists are fighting a tough battle for their right to exist. Because although around 55,000 bicycle journeys are made every day in Nairobi – just over 1 percent of all journeys – the reality for cyclists remains unruly. The rare cycle paths end abruptly, are poorly maintained or colonized step by step by cars, motorcycles and even stall vendors. Cycling club Critical Mass is trying to change that image.
