TEAM CONDITIONS – “Unlike the other stops we had a few more players available. We did an excellent job on the aspects to improve and on those in which continuity must be given. As for those who have returned from the national teams, the latest arrival is Gaspar, but they are all well and available.”
LAZIO – “A team that has excellent coaches, with recognizable playing principles. Up front they have unpredictability on the outside, they work well with the chains. They haven’t scored many goals but they produce a lot. We have to play a great defensive game to then obtain offensive situations.”
COURAGE WITH YOUNG PEOPLE – “Trust should not be given by default, it is earned with attitudes. If we talk about Camarda let’s not forget that he is almost eighteen years old, he is playing on important stages prematurely. However, if we continue to write that at 17 years old one cannot take the responsibility of taking a penalty kick…courage must be on both sides and growth also comes from mistakes. We must all channel ourselves in the same direction. We need to work better in the youth sectors, strengthening the kids’ qualities. Many times I find kids who never kick on goal, we think about tactics and less about the individual growth of the players. We all fill our mouths with nice words, but then do we coaches have to take responsibility or is it the system that needs to grow?”.
LAZIO WITHOUT PURCHASES – “Is it an advantage not to have changed? When you change so many it takes more time to find the right mix, but without changing anything the coach can have fewer solutions. There are positive and negative aspects. I see a Lazio that has potential, with players used to playing in a difficult context.”
PERSONAL DERBY – “If it’s a special match for me? No, it was a derby when I was at Roma, now I coach another team. I’m attached to Roma and I have many Roma friends, but I also have friends from Lazio. We are professionals, I prepared the challenge as I always have.”
