He was only nine years old, but comedian Jörgen Raymann (59) can still remember the atmosphere in Suriname on the day of independence. His life story is completely connected to that country. His father suffered a breakdown when he was arrested several times after the 1980 military coup. That changed everything in the family. “Sometimes I still burst into tears when it comes to my father or my sister.” Raymann speaks candidly in an at times emotional conversation.
