Because it was a call about dangerous substances, the police did not want to take any risks. The area was therefore closed off and the fire brigade checked whether there were actually any hazardous substances at the caller’s home, on the Olieberg in Moen, near Zwevegem. According to Mayor Isabelle Degezelle, it is now certain that it is not uranium and that there is no danger to the neighborhood. Chemical substances have been found, which were probably mixed in a refrigerator box. Exactly which substances these are remains to be determined

Unlikely story

Uranium is the fuel used in nuclear reactors. It is a radioactive metal. It therefore seemed unlikely from the outset that the man in question would have actually produced this substance. Upon arrival, the police could not find the resident in his home. He was later arrested nearby. It is now up to the public prosecutor’s office to decide what should happen to him.
