Germany defeated Argentina 2-1 after a decisive and dramatic doubles match in which the teams were evenly matched. Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz defeated Andres Molteni and Horacio Zeballos 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10) in a match that ended well after 1 a.m. local time.

German star Alexander Zverev had earlier defeated Francisco Cerundolo 6-4, 7-6 (3) in 1 hour and 35 minutes to make it 1-1. “I was very happy with the victory,” Zverev said afterwards.

In the opening singles match, Tomas Martin Etcheverry had put Argentina ahead after a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7) victory over Jan-Lennard Struff.
