Fortuna Düsseldorf has signed central defender Elias Egouli with a professional contract. The 23-year-old celebrated his men’s debut in a 2-1 win in Paderborn at the end of August and has made four appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga to date. The Cologne native was signed for the U23 in the summer of 2024.
“This is a special moment for me. I am very grateful for the trust and happy to continue to be part of Fortuna. My first time in the NLZ brought me further forward in my development. Now I would like to improve step by step in the professional team and do my best to be successful with our team,” Egouli is quoted as saying in a club statement. As usual, the club did not provide any information about the length of the contract.
Sports director Christian Weber added: “Eli has very good physical qualities for a modern central defender, as in addition to his size he also has speed and is therefore able to defend high and cover large areas. In addition, he is well trained in the basic football techniques and can cause danger from set pieces.”
