The United States and Saudi Arabia signed agreements on the sale of advanced American F-35 fighter jets and cooperation in civilian nuclear energy during Bin Salman’s visit. The White House reports this.
The future deliveries of F-35s fit into what President Donald Trump called a “major defense package” for Saudi Arabia.
Israel, for whom the United States is its most important ally, is strongly opposed to the sale of F-35s to the Saudis. So far, only Israel has these aircraft in the Middle East and it would affect the military balance of power if the Saudis also purchase them.
