A 54-year-old man from the municipality of Borger-Odoorn is suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl. The man is also said to have made child pornographic images of the teenager. He is also said to have chatted about sex with four underage girls.

This became apparent on Tuesday during an introductory hearing in Assen. The substantive hearing of the case is December 15. The man is still in custody and will remain so until the next hearing. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) accuses the man of keeping a 16-year-old girl in the car on May 21 this year by locking the doors.

During this first public hearing, the man indicated that he had sex with the girl. But with mutual consent, he said about this. So according to him this could not be rape.

The Public Prosecution Service thinks differently about this. Besides locking the car doors, there was a significant age difference. He had not locked the doors, the man said, they had locked themselves.

The man previously remained silent with the police, but he was more open with the judge. The man in his fifties was arrested last summer. Child pornography, which he had made of the teenager himself, was found on his phone. The device also contained online sex conversations with four other girls aged around sixteen. The judge was surprised that the suspect had not been psychologically examined.

Because the man had remained silent so far, the prosecutor thought this would be pointless. The probation service will, however, produce an additional report. “There are also sufficient opportunities to provide advice in this area,” the prosecutor said. The suspect desperately wanted to go home, on conditions. But the matter is too serious for that, the judge believes.
