Lynn Groenewegen has been called up for the selection of the Dutch team for the first time. The 22-year-old midfielder from Breda is part of the selection for the practice matches against Portugal and South Korea.

National coach Arjan Veurink has selected 24 players and made room for Groenewegen for the first time. The midfielder switched from Excelsior to FC Twente at the beginning of this year. Groenewegen is an important player for the reigning champion and current leader in the Women’s Eredivisie.

De Breda previously played as a professional for Feyenoord. In youth she represented Madese Boys and the DIA Girls Academy.

Groenewegen is not the only Brabant in the Netherlands selection. Caitlin Dijkstra (VfL Wolfsburg) from Breda, Jackie Groenen (Paris Saint-Germain) from Riel and Ilse van der Zanden (ACF Fiorentina) from Deurne have also been called up. Ashley van den Dungen from Rosmalen is the temporary assistant coach to replace Roos Kwakkenbos, who is missing due to family circumstances.

The Dutch team will play against Portugal in Braga on Friday, November 28. On Tuesday, December 2, South Korea will visit the Mandemakers Stadium of RKC Waalwijk. These are the last two practice matches before the Dutch team starts in the qualifying group for the World Cup in March 2026.
