The A28 was littered with sugar beets near Ubbena for hours due to an accident with a truck. Around 2:30 am, the beet truck’s semi-trailer overturned on the highway.
The accident has caused traffic disruption on the A28 all morning.
Until just after ten o’clock the A28 was completely closed to traffic from Assen to Groningen. The truck’s trailer was lying across the road. A diversion was therefore set up near Assen via the N33 and N34. The left lane is now passable again.
Because the beet truck crashed through the central reservation, there was also inconvenience for traffic from Groningen to Assen. One lane in that direction was closed for hours. Around 8 a.m. there was a traffic jam of four kilometers, the delay increased to almost half an hour.
It was also extra busy on the diversion route and on shortcuts through Rolde, among others.
