Mirtha Legrand put the episode of the party at Quinta de Olivos back on the public agenda during the pandemic. It was on her program on Saturday, November 15, where the host received Fabiola Yáñez and did not miss the opportunity to ask her for explanations. Also at the table were Robertito Funes Ugarte, Claudio Savoia and Mariana Arias.

With a firm but emotionally charged tone, Legrand recalled the death of his twin sister, Goldy —Silvia Legrand—, which occurred on May 1, 2020 at the age of 93. “My twin sister died in the middle of the pandemic and I saw it on a television channel… in the distance, on television, I saw her, I couldn’t attend,” she said, making clear the contrast between her situation and the celebration that took place in Olivos while health restrictions were in effect.

The host advanced with direct questions: she wanted to know if the former first lady had been responsible for organizing the dinner. Yáñez responded that “I didn’t do it,” assuring that there were people working at the residence that day. Legrand insisted that he was seeking to “help him confess everything because people have different versions,” further tenseing the exchange.

Yáñez, uncomfortable, reiterated the public apologies that she had already expressed: “I will never get tired of apologizing to all Argentines, I know that it should not have been done… it was a dinner, yes,” she stressed.

The episode once again confirmed something that Mirtha has demonstrated for decades: even at her age, she is still the most incisive interviewer in the country. With simple but relentless questions, she achieves what few others do: make the powerful person sitting in front of her uncomfortable and take each conversation to the exact point where she wants to go.
