The Chevrolet SSR and Plymouth Prowler are the reasons for this list. In the episode below of the Autovisie section Occasion Battle these bizarre creations compete against each other.
Both were born around the beginning of this century, when some American car manufacturers were in the retro mood. These cars cannot be compared with almost any other cars.
5 unique second-hand cars
Still, we managed to find five more models that fit perfectly into the ‘obscure models’ category. The advantage is that the prices of these second-hand cars are (still) somewhat manageable. They may be affordable investment properties, just like these three occasions.
1. Chrysler Crossfire
Similar to the Prowler, but a lot less exotic, is the Chrysler Crossfire (2003-2007). The four-meter-long American shares its technology with the first generation Mercedes SLK and is available as a coupe and convertible.

As an SRT6, the Crossfire produces 335 hp from its 3.2-liter V6. The other models use the same engine, but without a compressor, which means they have a lot less power: 218 hp. As a second-hand car, the Crossfire is not expensive, with prices between 4,000 and 10,000 euros.

2. Dodge Ram SRT-10
The Dodge Ram SRT-10 is unique in a completely different way than the Chevrolet SSR. Behind its imposing grille lies the gigantic V10 from the Viperwhich delivers 507 hp and 712 Nm.

The pick-up weighing more than 2,300 kilos reaches a top speed of 248 km/h and can sprint from a standstill to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.9 seconds. The Ram SRT-10 was built from 2004 to 2006. As a second-hand car they are surprisingly affordable, with asking prices of 20,000 to 25,000 euros.

3.Ford Thunderbird
Just like the SSR and the Prowler, the eleventh generation Ford Thunderbird was never officially delivered in the Netherlands. It is based on the platform of the Jaguar S-type and Lincoln LS, is powered by a 3.9-liter Jaguar V8 with 252 hp and is only available with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Ford stopped production of the Thunderbird (2001-2005) after just four years, because sales were severely disappointing (68,098 units). As a second-hand car you can find the 4.7 meter long convertible for between 15,000 and 25,000 euros.

4.Lincoln Blackwood
Even rarer than the Chevrolet SSR is the Lincoln Blackwood, which was built from 2000 to 2002 and of which only 3,383 units were sold.

The model was an attempt to give the Ford F-150 a premium look, with the nose section of the Lincoln Navigator and a truck bed finished on the outside with faux wood. We only find one in all of Europe, for which the seller only asks 15,000 euros.

5. Pontiac Solstice
From the remarkable Opel GT were also two American variants: the Saturn Sky and the Pontiac Solstice. At the time of writing, one of the latter is for sale as a second-hand car in the Netherlands. With five copies, it is only marginally more popular with its eastern neighbors (prices between 10,000 and 14,000 euros).

As a 2.4, the Solstice has 179 hp, the later GPX has a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 264 hp. From 2005 through 2010, Pontiac built about 64,000 roadsters and only 1,266 coupes.
